Holroyd Brass is a traditional brass band based in Western Sydney.
The Band was established in 1972, a special project for the centenary year of the City of Holroyd. It has since entertained local audiences through concerts, parades, outdoor performances, civil services and ceremonies and dinner shows. The Band has delivered countless professional and corporate performances in a range of ensemble settings, and competes consistently at the highest level in Australian brass band championships.
One of NSW's leading brass bands, our members include professional musicians and teachers, as well as many extremely talented amateurs. The Band is a community organisation in all respects and operates as a non-profit, volunteer group. We openly welcome new members from our local area or afar. Our friendly and family oriented culture makes membership fun and easy.
Currently Holroyd Brass comprises two separate bands, A Grade and C Grade. This enables us to cater for both very accomplished musicians, and those still growing. The Band travels interstate every year to compete or perform and we frequently pool players from both bands for community performances and workshops.
The A Grade band rehearses every Tuesday 8 PM - 10 PM. The C Grade band rehearses every Sunday 5 PM - 7 PM. The rehearsal hall is located at the corner of Burnett and Lansdowne Streets, Merrylands.
Brass band repertoire is often misunderstood in Australia. Far from the expectation that brass bands only play parade or march music, there is almost no genre of music we don't play. Essentially the Band can perform anything, from classical to pop, swing to baroque, light entertainment to sacred music. |
