Building on the incredible success of our recent Winter Workshop, we are thrilled to officially launch the Holroyd Youth Brass Band! Our workshop weekend was a massive achievement for our young musicians, who learned five major new pieces in just two days, took part in specialist percussion and vocal masterclasses, and delivered a fantastic final concert.

Expert Leadership & Custom Repertoire

The ensemble is conducted by Dale Vail, who brings years of high-level brass banding and music education experience to the podium. To ensure the music is always engaging, perfectly tailored, and fun to play, Dale also arranges and composes and arranges brand-new music specifically for the musicians in this ensemble.

A Place to Grow for All Ages

We warmly invite musicians of all school ages to apply. Our ensemble is uniquely structured to foster mentorship: older, more experienced players take on leadership and principal roles to extend their own playing, while younger musicians fill our section chairs, learning from the experience of their peers as they grow into advanced music. While a playing standard of roughly Grade 3 is recommended, you do not need to have passed any formal exams to join us. If you need equipment, the band can provide instrument hire when necessary.

Looking ahead, our youth band members will have exciting opportunities to perform alongside the senior band, participate in local competitions, and engage in community outreach programs.

Who Can Join? We are looking for enthusiastic young musicians to fill our ranks! The band is open to:

• Brass Players: Trumpets, Cornets, Tenor Horns, French Horns, Baritones, Euphoniums, Trombones, and Tubas. (Note: We welcome readers of both traditional brass band pitch and standard bass clef pitch, so school band players will fit right in!)

• Percussionists: We invite talented percussionists to join the ensemble and take on the exciting, advanced specialist workload of a traditional brass band percussion section.
